Rob van Bavel

Dutch pianist Rob van Bavel is one of Europe’s leading jazz pianists, celebrated for his virtuosic technique, lyrical touch and deep roots in the bebop tradition. A graduate of the Rotterdam Conservatory with highest honours, he has received numerous international awards, including a Dutch Edison Award and the Wessel Ilcken Prize. Over a career spanning more than four decades, Van Bavel has performed with jazz greats such as Woody Shaw, Randy Brecker, Chet Baker, Johnny Griffin and Wynton Marsalis, while appearing on more than 200 recordings as both leader and sideman. Alongside his international performing career, he is a respected educator at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.
