About this performance

We are proud to present an evening with John Marshall, the renowned trumpeter and flugelhorn player, live from Club Cinetone. Marshall's distinguished career spans decades, working with an impressive roster of jazz luminaries including Buddy Rich, Lionel Hampton, and Dizzy Gillespie, and serving as a key soloist with the West Deutscher Rundfunk Big Band for 25 years. Having concluded his tenure with the WDR Big Band in 2017, Marshall embarked on a freelance career, continuing to tour and record as a leader. He has released twelve albums under his own name, further cementing his reputation as a formidable talent. For this special performance, Marshall is joined by a superb rhythm section featuring Edgar van Asselt on piano, Uli Glaßman on double bass, and Steve Altenberg on drums, promising an evening of compelling jazz.

Line-up

The room

Club Cinetone was the original home of Watch Live Jazz, founded during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide jazz musicians with a professional stage while building a world-class streaming catalogue. The venue featured a state-of-the-art production setup with six HD cameras, a dedicated control room and professional audio engineering, enabling every concert to be streamed live and recorded in broadcast quality. After restrictions were lifted, an intimate audience of around 60 guests joined these unique performances, creating an unforgettable live atmosphere. Although Club Cinetone is no longer operating as a venue, its musical legacy lives on through the extensive Watch Live Jazz streaming catalogue, where these exceptional concerts remain available on demand.
